Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins...”
Repentance precedes baptism
Everyone of them (us) needs baptism
Baptism was by the authority of Christ
Baptism is for remission of sins (if this means that sins have already been forgiven then the blood of Jesus also shed because sins were already forgiven. See Mat. 26:28)
Acts 2:40-41 ”And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, ‘Save yourselves from this untoward generation.’ Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
Those who were baptized gladly believed the words of Peter
Their baptism was a saving act but baptism alone did not save them (see also 1 Pet. 3:21, Eph. 2:8, Acts 11:14, Rom. 8:24)
Col. 2:12-13 “... buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses.”
Baptism is a burial
In baptism we have new life
In baptism we go down dead in trespasses but are raised up alive and forgiven
Acts 8:12 “But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.”
Faith precedes baptism
Preaching about the kingdom of God and Jesus must include baptism
Acts 8:36 “Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, ”See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?""
Baptism was in water
Baptism in water was taught in the gospel and people were baptized immediately when they believed
