In today’s world, social media plays a huge role in shaping our interactions, opinions, and self-image. Mostly all you hear is how bad social media is for our world, but it’s not going anywhere. As Christians, it’s important to approach these platforms with wisdom and discernment, ensuring that we reflect Christ in our online presence.
The Bible teaches us to be mindful of our words. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” This extends to our posts, comments, and even the way we interact with others online. Our digital conversations should uplift, encourage, and reflect God’s love.
Ephesians 4:29 encourages, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up.” Social media can sometimes become an access for negativity, criticism, or gossip. As followers of Christ, we are called to be peacemakers, spreading kindness and grace, not division.
Additionally, Philippians 4:8 advises us to focus on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Let this guide your online behavior, ensuring that the content you share and consume aligns with these virtues.
In all things, whether online or offline, we must remember to honor God with our actions and words, reflecting His character to a watching world.
