Does Jesus Care?

We face many trials and temptations in this world, but we do not face them alone. One of the many blessings we have as Christians is that we have a Savior who cares.

1 Peter 5:6-7 - NKJV

6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Frank Graeff wrote the hymn “Does Jesus Care.” This man was a minister in the late 1800s, and while we don’t know exactly what troubles he had, these troubles ultimately inspired him to write this beloved hymn in 1901.

Does Jesus care when our hearts are pained? Oh yes, He cares!

Does Jesus care when our way is dark?

Oh yes, He cares!

Does Jesus care when we try and fail?

Oh yes, He cares!

Does Jesus care when we say goodbye to loved ones?

Oh yes, He cares!

Hebrews 4:14-16 - NKJV

14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in

time of need.

We are not alone with our struggles in life. We have each other, and we have a Savior. This Savior isn’t

isolated from us. He’s one who we can approach and cast our cares on to help us through difficult times. The next time you face temptation, are struggling with something, or feeling the hurt of loss, remember these words:

Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares. His heart is touched with my grief; When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares.
