There were once two brothers. The oldest was bigger, stronger, healthier, and smarter. The younger brother was scrawny, sickly, and weaker. They used to compete with each other by swimming in the ocean at night seeing who could swim the farthest out before giving up.
Many years past their youth they challenged each other
once more. This night was not as fun as it used to be. They swam and swam and swam until the older brother's body failed him. He began to drown. The younger brother having out swam him looked back to see him struggling. He came back to him and swam his brother back to shore. Once things calmed down the oldest asked his brother, "How is it, that for all these years, you always beat me?" To which his brother replied, "I never saved anything for the swim back.”
Which brother are you? We are living this life as stewards. We don't get to come back when we die or after judgment. We don't get to take anything with us. We should be laying it all out here in this place for the cause of Christ. If for some reason we don't make it, we have an eternity of rest waiting for us. Let us all be able to say, "Lord, I have given you my all." Let us all say, “I never saved anything for the swim back.”
"For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” - 2 Timothy 4:6-8
